Personal style is something that seems to come with the territory in the hair industry. From presenting ourselves at the salon to everyday life, we are constantly surrounded by and inspired through fashion, culture and our fabulous team.
We caught up with Melissa to chat about her unique style philosophy and all the things she loves about her career.
Style
My style philosophy is unique, pre-loved, and includes lots of classic black: comfortable yet stylish.
Personal style means a reflection of personality, lifestyle, and comfort levels.
These days I’m rocking thrifted pieces that speak to me. I’m a lover of textures, black and golds, accessorizing with chains, bold pieces and simple black pants. I’m not a big “brand name” gal and I’m all about a well made item!
Mel loves to accessorize, but her favourite addition is always her pup, Bodhi. ❤️
PRODUCTS
My favourite products would have to be any shampoo and conditioner from the line Eleven, NeuRepair Argan Oil from Neuma, and Bedroom.Hair & Killer.Waves from Kevin Murphy.
I love any well sourced coconut oil for body care and I’m a big fan of Burt’s Bees makeup.
CAREER
My favourite part about my job is having the skills to do it anywhere. From clients in the salon to volunteering with the homeless and Ronald McDonald house, it’s all about having the opportunity to make fellow humans feel and look amazing.

Product knowledge is important to me, right up there with maintaining the integrity of my clients’ hair.

I draw inspiration in my the life from the talented community I surround myself with: various forms of art, reading books, getting in touch with nature and being open to everything and anything. Music, meditation, and staying grounded is a big part of my life - being present to notice all that is around.
